Volunteers Needed — No Experience Necessary!
It may be winter … but we are still building. Most of the work being done right now is indoors and we also have heated lunchrooms.
For all volunteer opportunities, you must first register on our Volunteer Matrix. Then you will be able to choose your location and shift(s) on the Volunteer Calendar.
Already registered? Returning volunteers can simply log in to the Matrix to select shift(s).
Please allow about 30-minutes to complete your initial registration as you will be required to watch two videos, as part of our orientation and safety training process.
2019 Construction Plans
This is the most ambitious (and exciting) period in our history! 2019 is Phase III of our four-year plan to build a total of 21 homes on the North Island. Four of the 11 homes in Campbell River and two of the 10 homes in Courtenay are now completed and homeowner occupied.
We are actively recruiting volunteers in both the Comox Valley and Campbell River areas to help build four more homes at 477 Hilchey Road in Campbell River and four more homes at 1330 Lake Trail Road in Courtenay. The walls for all eight of these homes will be built in our fabrication shop in Campbell River, and then transported to the worksites.
No experience necessary.
Our homes are built almost entirely by both skilled and unskilled volunteers, under the direction of our staff Site Supervisors and volunteer Team Leaders. Whether you are an experienced contractor or have never picked up a hammer in your life, we can use your help.
We provide all the tools, equipment and safety gear you will need for the day, and no previous experience is necessary. (Note that our selection of steel-toed safety footwear is limited, so if you have your own boots or can borrow from someone, that is great.)
Know that we take your safety seriously! Each day starts with a Safety Orientation and review of the day’s tasks, plus an explanation of what area of construction will be worked on that day.
Want to help, but don’t want to swing a hammer?
That’s okay! We have several volunteer positions where you may be able to help.
