Tickets can be purchased at the Comox Valley ReStore (1755 13th Street, Courtenay)
Every woman could use a peaceful retreat from the stress of her everyday life. What if you could find that retreat without having to leave your own backyard? That is exactly the purpose of our latest fundraising raffle prize, the Habitat She Shed!
This year’s theme is inspired by our beautiful West Coast. Volunteers and staff worked together to create a shabby-chic seaside sanctuary. Photos don’t fully do it justice — you have to stop by the Courtenay ReStore (1755 13th Street) to see for yourself. While you’re there you can purchase raffle tickets from the cashiers for only $10 each. Tickets can also be purchased at Black Creek Farm and Feed or Blinds and Bubbles Boutique. All proceeds go to help build homes for families in our community.
Delivery is included within the Comox Valley and the draw date is December 22nd, 2016.
We had so many amazing and passionate collaborators on this project. Heartfelt thanks our She Shed construction crew who gave more than 160 hours of their time to build such a beautiful shed. Project leader, Doug Goodwin, was supported by Brian Woods, Darryl Turner, Merv Farquhar, Nasir Zadeh, Jon Toogood and Pat Mason.
The cost of shed construction was kept to a minimum with exterior cladding of Hardie Plank donated by James Hardie Inc. and Slegg Lumber, as well as paint donated by Dulux Paint Courtenay.
Our primary painting volunteers were Lynne Scavarda and Nasir Zadeh, along with Hazel Greig and Alberto Godiner. Painters logged more than 25 hours of volunteer effort.
The interior of the She Shed is decorated with ReStore treasures to create our shabby chic seaside oasis-theme. Thanks to the creativity of Donna Clairmont, Clairmont Custom Draperies and Decor, for making the lovely window coverings, chair slipcover, reupholstered footstool, and decorative pillows. (All at no cost to Habitat!) Other decorative pieces were donated by Audrey McEwan (The Magpie Mermaid) and Lisa Graham (Seadance Photography).
