If you are out and about in the Comox Valley this spring and summer, keep your eyes peeled for these two eager Habitat representatives. Sadie Cameron and Samantha Mauro are our newest fundraising summer students, and they will be out in the community spreading the word about Habitat and answering any questions you might have.
I recently returned from my first year of university at Dalhousie in Nova Scotia, where I studied political science and economics. Though the east coast was wonderful, I’m excited to be continuing my program at UBC in the fall to get back closer to my home here in the west! I’m an avid hiker, kayaker, horseback rider, and soccer player, and I’m thrilled to be joining the Habitat team. Habitat does such great work for families in need, and I feel very lucky to be a part of the difference they make in our community.
I am excited to be part of the Habitat team while I am back in the Comox Valley for the summer. I will be returning to UBC in the fall to continue in my second-year studies, completing my Masters in Business Management at the same time as my undergrad in International Relations. After moving over 17 times in my life, I want to continue to travel and volunteer internationally as well as explore the West Coast and make a difference in my local community. I have travelled to over 30 countries and been involved in many different sports, from competitive gymnastics to field hockey. Perhaps the most exciting of them is scuba diving and if you are lucky you will see me on Shark Week!
Come meet them tonight (May 29th) from 4:30-7:30pm at the Miracle Beach Monday Market, where they will be selling raffle tickets for our Pub Shed fundraiser.
