This April was a celebration of both the past and the future of Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North. We looked back at our achievements building homes and building hope over the last 12 years, but we also looked ahead at what’s to come for our organization.
We have some huge goals ahead of us — see our strategic plan for yourself — but we also have an amazing team who are ready to make those goals into a reality. In fact, we have already completed the first step by acquiring property on Lake Trail Road in Courtenay that can fit 11 units. Our biggest project to date.
The property is right across the street from Lake Trail School — an ideal location for families with children. In joint celebration of our 12 years, Earth Day, and our upcoming build, we planted a tree at the school.
We were honoured to have Keith and Christine Kent, our longest serving volunteers, plant the tree. The Kents were on our very first build site, making this gesture a true meeting of Habitat’s past and future.
To all of our staff, volunteers, sponsors, donors, and supporters: we could not have made this impact on our community without you by our side for these past 12 years.
Happy birthday, Habitat Vancouver Island North. Here’s to the past, the present, and the future of giving a hand up to families in need.
