Beginning January 23rd, Habitat will be partnering with the CCCU to offer financial training to not only our partner families, but the community as a well. ‘Invest in Yourself’ is a series of financial workshops targeted towards families who are struggling in the Comox Valley. Habitat’s commitment to their homeowner families’ education is a key contributor to an extremely low mortgage default rate and average annual income growth of 5.2% across Canada, and we want to use that to benefit our entire community.
Attendees will receive instruction from the professionals at CCCU, and other partners in the community on how to get out of debt, stay out of debt, and save for the future.
“One of the biggest problems I see with people who are in debt is that they don’t have complete knowledge about how much they spend,” explains Karen Bezaire, Family Service Coordinator for HFHVIN. “The result is that they spend more than they make month after month. Doing this for years on end eventually results in huge amounts of debt. Invest in Yourself is designed to tackle this debt and help you plan for the future.”
There will be a total of six classes which will run on Mondays from 6:30pm to 7:30pm from January 23rd until March 6th (with no class on February 13th due to the holiday). Classes will be held at North Island College in the Comox Valley.
This course is free or by donation, but space is limited to 25 participants. To enroll and learn more, visit iiyhabitat.eventbrite.ca or contact Karen Bezaire at firstname.lastname@example.org or 250-334-3777 ext. 226.
