While children under 16 years of age can’t join in the fun of volunteering on a Habitat build, on Saturday March 18th we gave them an opportunity to do a little building of their own. We partnered with the Campbell River Indoor Community Market to offer a silent auction, 50/50 raffle, and a Lego Build-a-Home contest at the Campbell River Commons Mall.
The kids who stopped at our booth had a ton of fun making extremely creative ‘homes’ with their Lego and learning about what Habitat does at the same time. All of the creations were so great that we had to choose the winner by random draw. The prize for the older winner was a wooden Kids’ Toolkit–a treasure found at the Habitat ReStore. The prize for the younger winner was Frozen and Avengers wall decals and a Bob the Builder colouring kit.
Silent Auction and 50/50
Our beautiful auction items were donated by other market vendors. All proceeds will go to building homes with families in our community. The 50/50 was part of our ReStore monthly 50/50 and will be drawn at the end of the month. There’s still time to enter–just go to the front desk at the ReStore! Tickets are only $2, and all proceeds support affordable homeownership.
The next two market dates are April 1st and April 29th. April 1st will be supporting Robron Grad 2017. The market is in the Campbell River Commons Malls next to Thrifty Foods and runs from 10am-3pm.
