Deconstructions
Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North Society and the ReStore deconstruct houses that are slated for demolition. This keeps tons of waste out of the landfills and all recovered building materials are sold at our ReStore locations in Courtenay and Campbell River. For more information about Habitat's deconstructions, please contact Habitat at 334-3777.
Here are photos of some of the deconstructions we recently undertook in the Comox Valley.

Habitat for Humanity Deconstructing Historical Comox HouseHabitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North Society is at it again! Volunteers are taking apart a house that is no ordinary building. The address is 170 Bay Court, in Comox, just off Beaufort.
Constructed in the mid 1920's, it is reminiscent of a home straight out of "Gone with the Wind". The house is an extremely well built, two-storey structure with a large verandah around three quarters of the building. The interior was finished with the finest of wood and the floors are either oak or fir. The structure was built of first-growth, dimensional timber - the like of which is extremely hard to find in this quantity.
The deconstruction project began on Monday, 23 January and will take about three weeks to complete. All lumber and other materials will be for sale on the site for cash or cheques only. Pay a visit to the site and buy a piece of history and support Habitat for Humanity's goal of providing affordable housing to deserving families.
