Who We Need
We are looking for volunteers with construction experience who have a willingness to mentor less experienced build volunteers on our current Campbell River build project (477 Hilchey Road).
Meet new people and take on a mentorship role as you help transform the life of a local family!
What We Do
Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North (HFHVIN), founded in 2004, works with low-income families in Northern Vancouver Island to provide a ‘hand up, not a handout.’
Homeowners put in 500 hours of ‘sweat equity’ building their own home and volunteering in the ReStore, and then pay an affordable mortgage set at 30% of their household income. In order to provide homes for families at such an affordable rate, we rely on donations of money, land, and supplies, as well as volunteers to help build homes.
Every Habitat house changes lives: those of the families who help build them and pay an affordable mortgage and all those who offer them a hand up in a time of need.
If you are interested in volunteering as a build mentor, contact our build volunteer coordinator Lynnette Hornung at firstname.lastname@example.org or (250)-830-1493 Ext. 223.
