June 11th through 18th a dozen volunteers from across Canada and the USA will travel to Campbell River to help Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North (VIN) build homes for two local families. These volunteers are part of Canada Builds, a Habitat Canada Global Village program that gives people the opportunity to travel and be part of a team of volunteers dedicated to advancing a Habitat build project. This diverse group of people from all walks of life will build with Habitat while experiencing the beauty and hospitality of our city.
Canada Builds volunteers receive a meaningful vacation while being more than just a tourist. Welcomed as guests by their hosts, Canada Builds teams are exposed to local culture while having a significant impact on a Habitat build project and the family whose life it will change forever.
In addition to working on the 477 Hilchey Build and meeting with Habitat staff and homeowner families, these 12 volunteers will have a “cultural day” which includes a tour of Elk Falls and the Maritime Museum.
Habitat VIN is seeking individuals and organizations to get involved and showcase their respective businesses by donating small items for volunteer “swag bags,” sponsoring a dinner, or volunteering alongside this group. Please contact Karen Bezaire at Karen@HabitatNorthIsland.com or 250-334-3777 ext. 226 if you are interested in participating.
