Habitat for Humanity at the Courtenay Christmas Parade
Habitat for Humanity was joined by Coast Realty Group for this years Christmas Parade. The float was the winning playhouse built by team Coast Realty at the fall fair. Their elves sold raffle tickets, decorated the float, and appeared in the parade. All raffle proceeds go to building homes for kids. The raffle was held at four o’clock in front of the library. Donna Cunliffe ended up with the winning ticket and is planning to donate the playhouse to a local pre-school. Coast Realty Group is a multiple donor and a great example of how businesses can assist in the cause of building families on Vancouver Island . www.habitatforhumanity@shaw.ca

Walmart Donates to Habitat for Humanity Projects
Walmart Canada matched a donation from the Courtenay Walmart Goodwill Committee for a total of $1,500.
The local employee committee made a proposal to the corporate office for matching funds. From drinking water for thirsty home building volunteers in 2004, to donations that buy materials to build more homes, Walmart shows there are many ways to help Habitat build homes for kids.

Habitat for Humanity at Kids Fest
Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North Society joined the family fun at Kids Fest this year at Lewis Park in Courtenay. There were many activities, displays, and music. At the Habitat area, helped by current and new Habitat families. Children painted switch plate covers for their rooms and decorated wooden tops. The materials were donated by Central Builders Supply and the Habitat Re-Store. It was a great day for kids in the Comox Valley. Several new volunteers were signed up and it was a great way to get to know the newest Habitat families.
