  1. Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North, believes that families stand to benefit most from our program, therefore successful applicants must have full custody, of at least of one child, under the age of 18. The custodial parent does not have to be the biological parent i.e. grandparent, relative, etc.
  2. There has to be a need for adequate shelter. Things to consider are: current cost of housing, housing issues that can affect the health of the family and number, gender and age of people currently sharing a room.
  3. There must be a willingness to partner with Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North. You must be willing to do 500 hours Sweat Equity. Sweat Equity is the hours of volunteer you put into working for our Organization.
  4. Successful candidates must have a regular income that is not Employment Insurance, Income Assistance or any other "stop-gap" measures.
  5. Successful candidates will meet "Core Needs Income Thresholds (CNITs)" for their Planning Area based on BC Housing Occupancy standards. In the table below we've listed these income levels, as a guideline, for Campbell River and the Comox Valley.
